Get Involved

An internship lasts only a few months, but the relationships established through the KP LAUNCH experience can last a lifetime. Our interns tell us that the chance to learn from and network with Kaiser Permanente employees, physicians and previous KP LAUNCH interns is one of the most valuable takeaways from their internship. If you are a KP employee, physician, or KP LAUNCH alumni, consider being a part of the program.  By sharing your experiences and expertise you’ll reap the rewards that come with helping a young person succeed.

The Supervisor
EXPERIENCE

Being a KP LAUNCH supervisor can be a personally rewarding experience and part of your own professional development as you make a real difference in the life of a young person. As a Supervisor, you will lead by example, and play an essential day-to-day role in making the intern’s experience a positive one. While this is the most time-consuming role our physicians and employees can play in the KP LAUNCH program, being an intern supervisor gives you an opportunity to directly contribute to the Kaiser Permanente’s commitment to developing a diverse, highly qualified workforce.

The Mentor
EXPERIENCE

Mentors provide real-world, relatable experience that interns can learn from while creating their own experiences towards their career goals. Interns can learn from your story and your perspective around academic and career planning over the course of the summer.  Mentors are encouraged to have at least three in-person meet-ups with their intern mentee. The mentor-mentee relationship is a rewarding experience that can sometimes last a lifetime.

The Guest Speaker
EXPERIENCE

Being a KP LAUNCH speaker can be a personally rewarding experience and part of your own professional development as you make a real difference in the life of a young person. As a speaker, you play an essential role in expanding the understanding our interns have of the vast range of careers that are available in health care.  You not only make the intern’s professional development experience a meaningful one, you also become seen as a leader who brings to life the organization’s commitment to developing a diverse, highly qualified workforce.

The Alumni
EXPERIENCE

As a previous KP LAUNCH intern, you have an especially unique perspective to share with current interns—and you know first-hand how much our interns get from their time at Kaiser Permanente.  By reconnecting with the program, you not only have a chance to make a real difference in the life of someone else, you’ll be invited to participate in special networking events that can reacquaint you with the employees and physicians you know at Kaiser Permanente. Check back soon to complete the Alumni survey and join the KP LAUNCH alumni network.
